video portrait culminating write-up.

For my video self portrait I chose to show the video games side of me. I used a Nikon D3100 to record he clips of me, a ps4 to record the screen when I was playing video games, imovie to cut and edit, cut and choose clips that I wanted in the video and finally I used garage band to cut the music clip. I am an avid fan of video games I like all types of games so i wanted to show the viewers of my video just that. So I chose to mainly do the video with a camera and the on-board video capture card on the ps4 to show my love for video games. Mainly I used still shots not moving shots to clearly express what I wanted to express, also the clips of me playing the games I think I used wide shots so you could fully see the TV screen and me playing the games. I didn't use any words in the video because I did not want any distractions from the main video. Next is that I used a dubstep song because I am personally a huge fan of dubstep and I wanted to show that in my video, I tried my best to time the bass drop with the time that I shot and kill the enemy in the Call of Duty clip which i think i did pretty well and that particular clip was really good. Next is that at the end of the video I finish with a clip of me on Photoshop editing a picture of a Bugatti Veyron which is my favorite car and a clip of me Photoshopping the picture let me best show my love for the car and of tech class. so in the end I showed my love for dubstep by using a dubstep song, showed my love for video games by mainly basing my self portrait off of me playing different games and finally showing my love for the Bugatti by showing me editing a photo of one.

post OCAD trip

so these are some photos that i took during the OCAD trip and they were from industrial design and drawing and painting. All of these areas were just fascinating and spectacular when i went to see them because of the amazing art and designs that i found from the amazing artists that created them. First off at the industrial design area i found amazing designs, I personally found this specific area really intriguing because in my future i want to pursue engineering so this helped me with an understanding of what to do and what to expect so it was cool to see what i might be doing in my future. Lastly i went so drawing and painting, this area was also just spectacular because of the sheer imagination in the paintings (as seen to the right) these paintings just blew my mind. what specifically blew my mind was the sheer detail and thought that was put into the paintings and as you can see they were just amazing paintings.

So lastly these programs look like awesome places to study but i want to pursue engineering in my future so i would like to study that rather than art or industrial design, but if i werent going towards engineering i would love to study these fields.

OCADU field trip

so on friday my class and I will be going to OCAD and we were told to find specific exhibits that we wanted to explore, so i chose Illustration ,Environmental Design and Industrial Design. I chose these exhibits because in the future i plan on going into the field of engineering and i believe that these exhibits will help expand my views on engineering and design.

kenitic tyopgraphy assignment

BTW i am sorry about the terrible video quality I don't know why it did that.

So this is a kinetic typography video called Demons. The song is provided by imagine dragons called Demons. This video was made using adobe flash CS6. So mainly my work consists of the lyrics of the song appearing and disappearing by changing alpha settings throughout the work.

So in my opinion I think I did a good job on this assignment, personally I liked how the words and letters faded in and out throughout the video also I loved how the words and music were so perfectly timed which make the video a little better. Now what i didn't like so much was the lack of other kinds of animations (e.g how letters would enter the scene). also i think i could have added more fonts to make the video much better.

Next off I used the font Bell Gothic STD. I didn't go through the whole array of fonts that were provided which I think hurt my mark a bit because I only used one font throughout the whole video. I think could have used other fonts with the video which would have made my video much more interesting and appealing to the eye.i thought that this font fit the song and and motion of the song.

So some challenges that I came across was that sometimes different parts of the piece didn't work e.g. some words didn't fade in which set me back because I had to go back and figure out how to fix it so that was a bother.

Next what really helped with the success of my video was that I always went back throughout the video to find little mistakes and screw-ups and things that i can add to the video, so that really helped me out with the final product.

so this is the video that i chose to talk about with this assignment it is a kinetic typography video of Abbot and Costello's sketch of "who's on first"

1. at 0:07 there is exaggeration on yes when the video maker enlarged and extended the amount of s's

2. at 0:03 to 0:06 there is arcs because the camera moves on a curved path with the words that are being shown on the screen.

3. in the beginning there is appeal because it doesn't start with normal boring typography it is not normal typing it appeals to the watcher with the abnormal typography.

4.at 0:32-0:34 there is staging with the continuous saying of who because the person who made this video made "who" larger with every time that abbot or Costello says that because they are becoming increasingly aggravated with one of them constantly asking who is on first.

5. there is secondary action at 0:02 when Costello says look abbot the animator puts eyes in the middle of the O's of look to emphasize that abbot should listen to what he has to say.

6. at 0:51-1:04 there is overlapping action because the animator is overlapping what both abbot and Costello are saying back to each other.

my finished vector drawing of an apple.

the original picture of the apple.

When I was choosing the file format for my drawing we were given a article to read that gives us some information that we should consider before choosing a file format. This is a link to the article. I chose the .GIF as a file because I learned that the GIF handles colors better, the article tells me that the GIF file format creates a table of 256 colors from a pool of 16 million colors and that if the picture has less than 256 colors then the photo will be rendered exactly which really helps a lot.

Next was the procedure what I did was that I put the photo on the lower layer and worked around the photo. I made a new layer for every new thing that I added for example a new layer for the stem, leaf, etc. when I was making the drawing I used the gradient tool to put some shade onto the apple to give it a more realistic look.

While creating this vector drawing i encountered some challenges. One challenge i encountered was that the leaf curved at the end of it so it was a struggle so make it look real. what i did to fix this problem was that i separated the front of the leaf from the back to make it look like it curves at the end. another problem was that the apple looked to flat when i covered the body of the apple. What i did to fix this was that i used the gradient tool on it to add a shade that gave the apple a curved look which helped alot with the final outcome.

in the end i feel happy with the final outcome of the apple because i feel like i put alot of work into this assignment and i created a work that i am proud of. This is because the apple looks very realistic and has a very good shape to it and i believe i payed alot of attention to detail so my apple looks very realistic and looks like the real photo. And that is why i am happy with my final outcome.

Pixel Portrait

this is my pixel portrait at a .GIF file format.

this is my pixel portrait at a .PNG file format.

When i look at both photos at the same time when they are next to each other when i zoom in on each file i notice that the png is a slight bit darker when i look at the cheeks on the face. When i really start to close up on the face i notice that both format's have a very close line quality, for me it is hard to differentiate between the two because of the very close quality's. in my opinion i think that both have about the same quality because both have high quality and for me it is hard to determine the difference.

When doing this project i was trying to accentuate my eyes because my eyes were ,i thought, going to be the most vesible part of this pixel portrait so i wanted to make them "pop".

The way that i made this portrait was that i put the photo into one layer then i lowered its opacity so i can work well then i added another layer over the original picture layer then i worked over it. i found this helpful because i could see my face's features so it helped with my faces's composition.
